The Legend of The Cajun Duck: Katrina and the Cajun Duck
The narrator, Shawn Battiste of New Orleans, tells a fascinating story of what he and his family experienced the day after Hurricane Katrina, when he was only 12-years-old. Katrina and the Cajun Duck is a heart-warming, humorous, magical story of Faith that is enjoyable for readers of all ages.
I read this story to my 2nd grade class shortly after a hurricane, and they absolutely loved it! It really helped the children express their emotions. The book is filled with a message of faith that can be used for all ages.
I fell in love with this book the first time that I read it, so naturally I had to have the updated Katrina anniversary addition. The colors are more vibrant and I thoroughly enjoyed the character development from the first edition to the new one. It brings many emotions and feelings from a time where it was hard to express such loss in a great city. Must read!
